About Us (How it all Started)
First There Were Two...
In 1949, William M. Glose, Jr. planted two holly trees in front of their newly constructed home in Allentown, PA. As the trees matured, they flowered but never produced berries. Curious about this, he went to the public library to research the reasons behind it and found a solution. Soon after, he added a male American Holly tree from a local holly nursery, and that’s when the berries and the cardinals appeared. This addition marked the beginning of his journey with holly trees, inspired by the expertise he discovered at hill nurseries and hollyhill nursery.
It All Started With An Idea...
My grandfather's love for American Holly quickly grew, leading him to plant hundreds of young holly trees that dotted the property. He would give talks and tours, sell cut holly at Christmas, and offer seedlings in the spring and fall. Today, we still have American Holly on the property, but we have expanded the business, following the same basic concepts of providing quality plants at a great price. As an aggregator, we now collaborate with over two dozen hill nurseries to supply us with the best quality plants for our clients.
